Cretors 1912 #6 Popcorn Machine

Engine Serial no. 7875

This antique was originally sold to B.R. Buffman on March 13, 1912, for $125. The second owner was Sam Clifford. Mr. Clifford sold his No. 6 to Wyandot, Inc. in November of 1981, for $6,500. At one time it was used in the Chief Theatre of Roswell, New Mexico.

When the machine was received by Wyandot, it was in good condition for its age. Wyandot wanted to restore the machine to original. In restoration, they cleaned, stripped the pain, repainted, redid the pin-striping, nickel-plated various parts, replaced broken glass in the door, put a new galvanized base in the peanut cabinet, and replaced the belt.

This machine was very similar to the Cretors Earn-More popcorn machine (1917 Model No. 6 SF). Both have a peanut roaster up and to the rear of the machine. The finished and roasted peanuts are dispensed into the cabinet at the bottom through an enclosed duct, much like a furnace duct, at the rear of the machine. These units have heated warming pans, generally under the popcorn area, as well as the peanut area.

The 1912 Cretors No. 6 that was in our collection was sold to Paul Newman to be displayed at his charity. We have replaced it with a 1921 Cretors No. 6.
